AMY COSENTINO
BALLET & POINTE
Ms. Cosentino began her dance training in 1980 in Tampa, Florida with Frank Rey who directed the Florida Ballet Theatre. It was there that she studied various forms of dance including ballet, tap, jazz, acrobatics, and folk. She danced children's roles with Florida Ballet Theatre such as "Babes in Toyland" and various other local performances. From 1987-1989, she danced children's roles with Tampa Ballet under the direction of Martin Friedmann in "Cinderella" and "The Nutcracker." Ms. Cosentino continued her dance training at the college level at St. Leo University and the University of South Florida, where she was awarded scholarships for her performance and choreography talents. In 1998 Ms. Cosentino earned her Bachelor of Arts in Modern Dance Performance from the University of South Florida. From 1997-2001 she also performed with Acanthus Ballet, a contemporary ballet company under the direction of Richard A. Ploch. She taught dance for the musical theater program at Tampa Preparatory School from 1999-2001 and was the high school dance team coach. From 1996-2001 she was also an instructor at Centerstage Dance Academy where she earned the position of Ballet Mistress teaching all ages and levels. Her advanced modern dancers won awards and competed locally with her choreographic visions. In the Fall of 2001, Ms. Cosentino moved to South Florida to study law at Nova Southeastern University where she earned her Juris Doctorate in 2004. Ms. Cosentino has been teaching ballet since 1996 and in Spring 2017 obtained her American Ballet Theatre Teacher Certification for levels Pre-Primary through Level 3.
